Another vote for condensation. Over in the FI section they mention that it is very common for the catch cans to fill up with condensation in colder climates.

I should have mentiond that my Mustang motor sat for like 6+months in a shop in Washington during the winter omnths. Lots of wet weather about. LOL

I agree with the condensation theory. I was told buy a GM engineer that it would be better to keep the can as close to the motor as possible to keep it hot. This would prevent condensation build up. However, I have no data to back that up. I plan on draining my can in a couple weeks, there will be 2000 miles of driving on it. We'll see what it looks like.

That is clearly some sort of oil/water sludge. So where did the water come from?

If not a head gassket then condensation...

I had the same thing in mine the first time I drained it (AMW catchcan). it is just condensation that would normally evaporate in the valve covers. No big deal since your oil is fine. Better in the catchcan than the motor. No worries....go enjoy your ride!
