I recently ran my truck at the track in edinburg,TX. I have a poweraid spacer, K&N(not FIPK), Free mods,Gibson cat-back,and 3.42s. My time was a 15.34@90.8MPH . I also ran this time with my 285/50R18s. is this slow or not? if it is, what can i do to help? I ordered the UPD, how much help will that give?Oh, and i just added 3.73s, how much help are they? also, i don't want to open my engine up...yet.
I know it is alot of questions, but any help is greatly wanted and will be greatly appreciated.

Reg or ext cab? That is average for a reg cab and pretty good for an ext cab with your mods. The UPD and 3.73 will maybe give a 1/10 or 2, but don't expect a miricle.

A torque converter would definately help. The 3.73's will probably help off the line but, now you'll have to shift into third gear before the end of the track and the motor probably falls to around ~4000rpm. With the stock 3.42's and reprogrammed shift points/rev limiter you could go thru the traps at the top of second gear which might be better. This would work for a MPH up to around 100 with a 6200rpm rev limit(If anyone want to discuss this please do so)
I would say a good 3200+ stall, a HPP3 so you can raise the shift points, maybe sell the 3.73's and go back to 3.42's if you get the stall converter.
What was your 60' time? Did you spin off the line? If you still have the stock open rear you might want to consider upgrading to an Eaton posi unit.
It all depends on how fast you want to go and how much you want to spend. Give us your goals and it will be easier to lay out a plan of attack.

First off, yes i am an ext. cab and as for my rear end, it is locking so it pulls with both tires anyway.
I didn't spin off the line and that helped alot
I want to get into the mid 14's, which may be alot for an ext. cab w/o opening the engine.
about the programmer, my brother in law called hypertech and asked for advice. they told him that by setting the rev limiter at 6200 he was losing time. The best shift would be at 6000 and to set his points at +2,+4,+6. this would guarantee 2 mph and that was the best they could do. His brother(5.3 ext. cab) had it at 6200 and was losing to a 4.8 reg. cab. he switched to 6000 and gained half a truck. overall i think 6000 is your best bet.

Speedy - I just meant to reset the rev limiter at 6200 so you didn't hit it once you raised your shift points. I wasn't really clear though. You're right about that being to high for the shift points on a bolt on type motor.
Check out #26 on the fastest truck list. That is the fastest EC that isn't running N20 on this site. He is pretty close to the mid 14sec. range with no converter.
