Default What do you know about CarChip E/X?

I went to SEARS last night and found a data logging system. It logs O2's, IAT, coolant temp, throttle position, fuel pressure, intake air flow lb/m, timing advance, true speed up to 158mph, engine rpms, voltage, fuel system status, intake manifold pressure, and the list goes on and on.

Anyway, i bought one because it looked pretty cool. It also logs trouble codes and deletes them. When i ran it on my truck i found out my throttle position at idle was .4% and at WOT it was 100%. Well i deleted the code and reset it and got it back to 0% at idle where it should be. Now it doesnt do the all to wonderful slow wind down when i rev it.

I know its not near as good as EFI live, and you cant tune anything with it, but it is good for data loging and it only costs $46. It has a little module that plugs into the diagnostic port and then into your computer.

Just thought i'd let you guys know.

Sounds cool. I think ill check it out. But i will need a lap top to run it, right? If so, ill use my buddys lap top. Is it really easy to use?? Is it user friendly??

Its very easy to use. I use my desktop because it requires a serial port and i dont have an adapter for my lap top yet. You plug the module into the computer, select the parameters you want to log, and then go plug it into the truck.

Oh yea, this thing will work on ANY 96' or newer vehicle. And there's no limmit on how many you hook it to. Last night we loged every car we could get ahold of.

Its with all the compression tester stuff and diagnostics. It won SEMA, so I'm really surprised no one here has posted it up before now.

I just found it on Sears.com, but its $149...

I guess the $46 was a typo...and maybe should have read $146?? Here it is on sears.com.

Went out logging again. Says I start pullying between more than .5G's at about 3800rpms. I may do more runs tommorow to see how many i can pull. And try the KR mod.

What is the stock timing for our trucks anyway? I seem to run @ mid 30's till about 3000rpms, and it drops off to about 26*.
