what causes the mis-fire code?

Default what causes the mis-fire code?

I was told my truck is giving that code.

the code is set when the pcm sees a variation in the crankshaft position sensor speed. this can be caused by many different things such as an actual dead cylinder or a large cam, bad sensor or anything else that may cause a rough idle
