Which program do you guys recommend for monitoring---Autotap,etc...... Why is one better than the other?

HP Tuners not only has monitoring software built-in, but you can edit with it as well.

 

If you just want a scan software, the most comprehensive is the Ease scan software. The HP Tuners is very good and you can get it with an integrated PCM edit software. Autotap is slow and restrictive.

The best use of the scanning software is to evaluate you engine management during a driving cycle. A good 20 minute drive with several full acceleration shifts to redline (3rd gear) should give you all of the cars engine management parameters. The hard part is learning how to change them with edit software. Many tuners can give you an optimal tune from the scan file. The choice is yours, tune yourself or send away for the tune.

 

Atap is made by the same company that makes EFI live except EFI is made specially for LS1 based engines and has parameteres that atap dosent.
