Default What are the Benefits / Drawbacks?

I recently purchased the Silverado in my signature. We will use the truck primarily to tow a large camper. Its a great truck, but I've always said if I bought a 3/4 ton 4X4 diesel, I'd never have to buy another truck. After hearing a Duramax run, my wife said "Why didn't you buy a diesel if you wanted one?" Is the Duramax (stock) significantly more powerful than the 6.0? How far can you go with bolt-ons? I've got my eye on an '04 diesel, but I do really like the '03.

I am pretty sure they at least have some tranny work done or a suncoast tranny in it to run those times. My dad has the edge hot juice with the attitude monitor and I can put his stock tranny into limp mode EASILY on level 4. Although I do think it will beat my truck. They are powerful!

oh im sure but i was just suggesting that those things can get real fast without doing as many mods as we have to do to get that quick.

Yeah, the 'max is a good amount more powerfull than the 6.0.

The 6.0 will feel 'peppy' without a trailer, but you'll find it running out of steam at times when you've got a real heavy load behind it.

The 'max may feel a little slower around town, but when you get a load behind it, you'll definitely notice the added power. It won't get dragged down as much as the 6.0.

At least this is my view comparing my 6.0 to my fathers F350 7.4 PowerStroke. The only difference is the F350 feels a TON slower around town. The 'max is supposed to more gas-like.
