yeah it's me. I was on here looking for torque specs and tips to make it go by faster. I've swapped cams in my camaro plenty of times but never on a 5.3. Do the 5.3 have the lifters that lock in place in the trays like the ls1?

Yes, from what I've read they do lock into place. Some guys use pen magnets or dowel rods to hold the up though.

Also make sure and use some loctite on the cam bolts and on the cam retainer plate.

So all I really need is a cam bolt (anyone have the part number?), water pump gasket, someway to hold up the lifters, oil, coolant and some loctite?

I re-used EVERYTHING in my motor... all I swapped was the cam and springs... you dont need the pump gaskets or the bolt... (but the bolt does make it easier to get the pulley back on.)

So do I need to replace the valve springs or the valve seats with dual springs? This guy that works at chevy wants to do it for me and was telling me with dual springs you have to replace the valve seals.

probably not the seals... do the springs and retainers and pushrods along with the cam... you wont be running a ton of lift, you'll be good to go.

Well this guy works for chevy and does cam installs quite often. He said if I run dual springs I need new valve seals or it will burn oil nasty.
