Default Wester's Tune = Neck Brace Required

Wow. Put in my Wester's tuned PCM tonight and went for a long spin. Neck is sore as is mouth from grinning.

Don't know why I stayed with that crappy Superchips tune that comes with the Radix for over a year. Would love to get dynoed now to see what HP and TQ I am pushing. Lyndon was telling me that another Denali similar to mine (Denali XL, 6.0, Radix, JBA Shorties, Flowpro, Cervo, 20's) was running 14.2 after he put in the Wester's tuned chip. Be curious to see what I run, but off the line is tremendously improved and only have 50 miles or so on the new pcm.

Just curious though if I will notice higher readings on the pyrometer now, especially when I am towing. Seemed to be a bit hotter tonight, but of course my foot was buried for a good part of the time too. Not sure what could do to combat this... Flex-a-lite fans? 180 thermostat? Suggestions?

Will post numbers if get to dyno or track soon.

That Lyndon knows his stuff

You won't get too much support around here; this is Nelson country . They're quite protective

But we know the truth

All the Magna Chargers come with a safe tune and there is allways room for improvment with a more on the edge custom tune, I am sure that if you get it on a dyno and tune it with a wide band that there is even more in it. Remember that Magna Charger has to use the same tune in every truck in the world no matter what the Altitude, temp, or mods are and be able to guarentee you that your engine wont BLOW up. So this is why your crappy superchip tune up is this way. The bad thing is using a custom tune voids your warranty. Enjoy your new power!

To be honest, I've been plenty impressed with my Stock Radix Tune, drives like a dream, and I look foward to the added power potential a future dyno tune or street tune will afford me.
Another nice thing about getting the stock Radix tune is if and when you start tuning or changing parameters you always have a nice safe tune to go back too

Thanks Guys. To be safe, I paid an extra $300 (Cdn) and kept my original core with the Superchips conservative tune on it, in case I need to switch back.

Should I expect the truck to run a little hotter (heat wise, not speed wise ) with this new custom tune, and if so, what steps can i take to cool it down? Better cooling fans (Flexalite)? Lower thermostat (180?).

On the choice of tuners, it was a no brainer for me since I live only about 4 hours away from Lyndon. So I placed my order on a Wednesday afternoon, and it was here by Thursday! If I lived in Texas or closer to Texas, I likely would have gone with a Nelson tune, since I have read a lot of great things about his tunes as well on this and other Forums (same for Lyndon's). At any rate, it is quite obvious that both of these fellows are at the top of their game.

Thanks
