Left to head up to Sacramento Raceway and it was 92* at my house, 84 miles later it was 104* at the track. Needless to say, the heat killed any chance of me getting a new best. Meet up with FL8PONY & BOWTIEMAN (sorry, couldn't remember exactly) and had nice conversations with them. My first two runs were with HPP 93 tuning and the second two were with out. All other HPP settings remained the same (shift points, 160 stat, etc.)
15.17 @ 91.11 with a 2.33 60', temp 104* - with HPP 93 tune
15.33 @ 90.49 with a 2.42 60', temp 104* - " " "
15.28 @ 90.21 with a 2.34 60', temp 103* - no HPP tuning
Best of the night was last run:
15.02 @ 91.33 with a 2.21 60', temp 98* - no HPP tuning
If you take an average of the two runs, the NON-HPP runs had a slightly better ET.
15.25 @ 90.8 mph with HPP tuning.
15.15 @ 90.77 mph with out HPP tuning.
I'm done now until October or November, it won't be cool until then. Overall had a good time, it wasn't real crowed I assume because it was so dang hot. It was good to talk to you guys!

Yeah the weather sucked for racing!
I calculate the DA= Density Altitude was between 3000-3200ft! That is really bad for here considering our avg. DA when I choose to race is closer to 500 or even -500.
I don't know what was up with my truck but it was a complete dog off the line and just past the 60' mark. My best 60' was a 2.2 and my ET was a constant 16.01@84 MPH.
The odd thing is even with my stupid big tires I was running 15.9@89.8mph a few weeks prior and that was before the new converter. So needless to say something is not right, even with such horrible weather. I came home and found I was about half a quart or more high on tranny fluid so I wonder if that had any efffect? And like Jim the HPP3 power tunning didnt do squat for my ETs/MPH.
So even though I left early and ticked off to all hell I still had fun chatting with you guys.
Ohh BOWTIEMAN in his bone stock 03' Z71 ext.cab was running 16.9-17.0 which makes me wonder also cuz he should have been running better than that. Maybe our PCMs were wiggin out with the heat. *shrugs*

Hey FL8PONY! Is there a calculator to adjust for the DA we were really running at? I'd like to calculate the 3000 ft to 500 ft and see what it may or may not have been.
Thanks, Jim

Here's another word on the HPP tuning. After driving home last night with no HPP tuning in my truck, I did a 0-60 run and it was 6.12 seconds, temp was 75*. This morning I did another one after taking my son to school and it was 6.24 seconds, temp was 73*. Just for the heck of it, I reinstalled the 93 tuning and left all other options the same as before. I did two more 0-60 runs about an hour apart and they were 5.98 & 6.05. I don't know why the HPP tuning didn't seem to work at the track yesterday, maybe it was the heat. I've always used 87 oct gas even though I use the 93 tuning, I've never heard a ping UNTIL driving to the track yesterday. It was 104*, I had the A/C going and radio off. Under light acceleration on the freeway, I heard pinging for the first time ever. May be the KR kicked in at the track and that's why the HPP really didn't make a difference yesterday, don't know really. I'm going to try a tank of 91 oct gas and see what happens, just thought I would pass this on.

Jim,
I'll look for the calculator
As for me, I checked my fluid after the track and I was about 1/2 a quart or so too full in the trans so that may have been why the truck did that weird crap before shifting and why my MPH dropped so bad, aside of the horrible weather
I am gonna drian some fluid as soon as the trans cools a little and if my neihbor calls me up I am buying his stock Chevy rims/tires and might race tonight to see if all this helps any. It blows my mind that I can run 15.30s all day long on my G-Tech, then swap tires and install a Yank and only run 15.60s!
Or 16.0s in temps like Wed.!!!

prety sure the hpp3 tuning will hurt you when it is that hot ESPECIALY if you dont use the good gas, dont know how that tuner works but they usualy lean things out a litte and add a little timing, both bad things when it is that hot and you didn't even use the right gas. a that temp with 87 gas you could break something, like a piston.
damn 104deg is hot!!

Y2Ksilverado, I gotta agree some with hyperlite on the 0-60 times. My SLOWEST 1/4 so far is a 14.8 and the few times I tried the stopwatch thing I kept comming up with 6.5-6.7. Of course I had a little tire spin though, but not much.
