Default Went to HRP today....

ON a spur of the moment, we decided hit HRP today to test the new exhaust, HPP3 and servo. Had a little over half a tank of fuel which was over a quarter of a tank more then last time(way to much). Temps were in the mid to high 90s and the humidity was 88-90%. I made runs in groups of 3, made a change and let it cool down.

Hot right off the street:
15.32@91.35
2.31 60'
9.93@71.99 in 1/8

15.35@91.42
2.31 60'
9.96@72.01 1/8

15.26@91.98
2.34 60'
9.90@72.62 1/8

raceweight: 4512lbs

Next group of runs was with a change in shift points to keep in second through the traps, lower tail gate, remove spare tire and a tote bag of ****.

15.23@92.08
2.32 60'
9.88@72.48 1/8

15.20@92.23
2.32 60'
9.86@72.65

15.28@92.04
2.33 60'
9.92@72.37

raceweight: 4420lbs

cool down for an hour:
Trying different launch techniques.

15.18@91.89
2.29 60'
9.82@72.48

15.14@92.16
2.27 60'
9.80@72.85 in 1/8

15.11@92.57
2.31 60'
9.80@73 in 1/8

Finally the best of the night:
15.08@92.28
2.27 60'
9.75@73.03 in 1/8

Ran many others I am leaving out. Recap is 3 -15.30s, 3- 15.20s, 3-15.teens, 2-15.50s, 2-15.40s(end of night) 1-15.oh

After I decided to quit, I put the tailgate back up, spare in and tote bag back in and made two more passes to see how much it slowed. The engine temp was hotter due to longer lines but for some reason I could not get it to leave as good, both were 15.40@91mph. 1 mph is gained from losing th spare and dropping the tail gate down, not to mention much less bog in the 330' for some reason. All in all it proves that I gained a solid 2-2.5 mph with the HPP3, servo and dual exhaust. Not to mention this was with over a quarter tank more gas then last time out with atleast 10 degrees hotter ambient temp. Not a bad gain at all. SO with all this being said, at the July 14th meet, I will have no spare, no tailgate on and only 1/8-1/4 tank of gas and HOPE for a 14.90. Damn 31" tires KILL that 3.42 peg leg. Need some short, sticky tires Sorry about this book, just giving you the details of the changes and the gains. Later!

I am hoping to have a 14 second truck at the meet next week. Put her on a little diet for that day and hope the humidity will go down some. (yeah right) Its pretty consistant 15.teens though. I am wonder if all the guys that are running 14s with stock motors are taking the gates, spares, stereo stuff, etc out or are they going 14s right off the street?

Suprised that losing the spare and tote bag(100 lbs) made the difference in made in the 330's . I guess that 100lbs really adds to the BOGG of the 31" tires, losing the weight helps it pull through the dreaded 1500-3500 hole of power a little easier. Shorter tires and a 3.73 posi would work wonders for this thing.

Nice runs dude. Glad to see the new stuff is working. I hope I can get to the track this Friday and see if I can do better than my 15.52 I will drop the gate this time. I can't wait to get the new servo in the truck. Anyone know what year torque managment started? Vortech5300 I bet a 3.73 posi would get us in the 2.0x or 1.9x 60'. Later.

hehe, I told ya dude! Those are good times....Next Sunday, put it on a real diet, and you'll hit 14s. I'm gonna be running on fumes to the track......

You're already looking at 14.7s/14.6s for winter......

Cashhomie, I will be putting on the 275/55/16s pretty soon. They are 2" shorter then whats on there. That should help it a lot down low but I bet its gonna make it start spinning. All else fails, I will get some 26X10 ETs and that will cure all the spinning problems. I would like to put a 4.10 posi in it but I bet it would suck serious gas on the freeway and this IS my daily driver/tow vehicle so I may go up to the 3.73 posi. IT all depends on how much the shorter tires help. I think it would take 3.73s, slicks and a convertor to get anywhere close to a 1.90 60'. I bet with a 1.90 60' I would go 14.20s or so.

Yeah I will probably go with a 3.73 but gotta bunch of other **** I need first. Plus I am B R O K E! I have spent over $700 on this thing in less then a month. 7 bills I didn't have to start with. Gonna get the tires next then a drop. I gotta lower this thing bad. Looks like I am racing a red neck truck sitting up in the air with the 265/70s on it >LOL
