Default Weird problem...

When I started this project, my goals were 700-800 flywheel hp. My goals were never to beat Jim, or to be the fastest SSS, I just wanted big hp and big torque -- basically a badass truck that didn't have to sweat 99.9% of anybody I rolled up on.

True to form, it looks like I overbuilt... I built the motor to handle 18psi easily and 20psi with my mouth held right and lots of meth.

According to yesterday's session, and guessing 25% AWD loss, and nothing from the mustang, I'm at 800 fwhp with the street tune. I think I can do some minor tweaks, and have my goal and a LOT of margin for error. So I've been thinking about how much hp I actually need (translation: "Is there a way my psychosis will let me stop here?")

If I go back and do the tuning to hit 18 /20 psi, that will put me in the 700 - 775 AWHP range (100-165 just from the extra psi -- each psi I crank is about 27hp) which, using the same assumptions of no loss to the mustang and 25% awd loss, would give me 933 - 1033 flywheel hp. Which is way over my goal. And more to the point maybe way over daily driver, the capabilities of the 65E, the driveline, the tires, the...

So... What do I do now? (beside create a lot of tire smoke) Do I keep pushing to 18psi, leave the boost where it is and just tune for max power (with plug wire socks or something to prevent forrest fires), add headers and retune, and headers and push for 20??

I thought you were already over the limits of the GT70?? I think you will need a larger turbo before you try to get much more out of that one. How big can you go with the STS system??
Also I would do things to get more power to the ground before putting much more into your setup.
Very sweet though

I talked to Rick Squires about that today -- he thinks there is more in the 70, but I can go with a 76 or a 42 as well. And if I can fit a 76, I can probably fit a PTE88, but then I'm sure I'll be into the 4500 range on spool (just like with the 42)

I'm confused on it all though.

What do you do? First of all, show us video!

Stock exhaust manifolds still? That's crazy!

Either way, no matter what, that's one helluva cool problem to have.

Well, with the first item, you better have a lot of the second, cuz stuff will start to break after a while...
