Default Water pump leaking........

Hey guys, has any one of ya had problems with the water pump gasket leaking. Truck only has 30k on it. Thanks..

usually when a water pump leaks, its about to go out completly.

2003 with 30K miles...should be under warranty right? To the stealership you go.

Sound like a warranty concern, at least it shouldn't cost ya. You mentioned that the water pump gasket was leaking...do you mean one of the gaskets where the water pump bolts to the block? I do remember reading of a similar condition once where the guy found one of those gaskets slightly split or something like that...not sure where I read it or if it was a post cam swap sort of deal. Usually a water pump will leak out of the weep hole when the front seal or bearing starts to wear out. Haven't heard of too many water pump failures on GENIII engines yet, but any part can go bad.

Mine used to leak slowly. I just changed the gasket when I did the cam swap. The rubber part of the gasket had pulled away from the metal frame, GM makes a new gasket that solves the problem. Easy as pie when you are doin the swap. Put a dab of grease on the gaskets to stick them to the block while you put the pump back on.
