did you recently replace a battery or anything like that???
you may need to do an idle learn.
1. set park brake.
2. make sure a/c is off.
3. start truck, put in drive and let it run for 5 minutes.
4. put it in park and let it run for 5 more minutes.

I haven't change my battery in over 2 years. It's an optima yellow top and has had 0 problems. I'll try this, tho, to see if that works! Thanks for all the help guys. Keep it comin if you have anymore ideas...

Well, a little update tonight... Not sure what happened, but it seems to be running better. I didn't do the idle reset, just got in, cranked it up, and turned on the AC full blast. Rode around for probably an hour or two and when cruising and letting off the gas, the rpm's took a bit to get down to 500 rpm's, which was a good thing I suppose. When braking hard and coming to a stop quickly, the voltage did not drop below 14v at all. Also, when at a light with the AC on, there was no more surging or voltage drop whatsoever...

I guess the Big 3 really does help as far as curing this problem. If you have this problem, look up the Big 3 on www.the12volt.com or www.caraudio.com or some other sites with tutorials!

Briefly, what's the "Big 3" ? Is it,in part, like going to lower gauge cabling to lower the load on the alternator?

Yerp. I ran all 1/0 gauge from the batt to the gruonds and from the alt to the battery. I will be upgrading the alt to a 250a along with an additional Kinetik 1800 battery in the auxillary battery tray under the hood to help power my audio.
