If I didn't own an AEM, I'd probrobally go for the Volant as well. I've never heard anyone say 1 thing bad about them, and they do look well made and factory looking. I also like the fact that they are in an enclosed box. But that being said, I love my AEM.

After doing some testing with sealing off the area that the stock airbox pulls air from... unsucessfully trying to get IAT's down ...... I really like the sound of the intakes that replace the lower plate the stock 'box bolts to, and place the filter element down below it, in front of the wheel-well.

Has anyone tried getting fresh/cold air directed up at the stock airbox openings?

I've been toying around with some ideas. I just don't have the resources (welders, ability to obtain and mold plastic), to put anything to life.

Just use some 4" pvc and rubber bends. All the stuff you need is at Home Depot.

I am leaning towards making my own, but with more tubing so I can make my own proflow. Does anyone know if a lot of water would reach the area under the intake box? I do take the truck offroading and drive through large puddles of water when it floods around here. Would that area suck up the water when plowing through the water?
