Vinci/Crane cam or Stainless Works Long-tubes?
#1
I am trying to decide on what my next modification should be. Eventually I am going to be doing both of these but unfortunately, like most I am sure, I do not have the money to do both at the same time. I have been recommended the 080 Vinci/Crane cam (and 1.85 rockers at a later date). The specs on the cam are 210/218 0.551"/0.551" on 116* LSA. The headers I want to purchase are the Stainless Works Long-tubes with 2.5" collectors, high-flow cats and 2.5" Y-Pipe (as seen in GMHTP magazine) that will bolt to my MagnaFlow exhaust. I have a Yank Truck Thruster 2600 stall converter waiting to be installed but I just want your opinion on what you people think should be next. Thanks.

I'd do the cam. I have a 2600 stall and a 062 Vinci cam in the 6L. I like the lope, some don't. A cam is going to work well with the stall. The headers will help even more after the cam. You're gonna want better than stock springs to go with that 210/218 .551 cam.

Thanks for the input. Keep it coming. When I went to Vinci for a cam recommendation, I told him I wanted a 6000 rpm max limit and I did not want to lose ANY low end. He went on to tell me that the 080 would be a perfect cam for my wants/needs. He explained to me that he put that same cam in an '05 GTO with 1.85 rockers and Bassani cat-back and it made 390 RWHP from 330 RWHP. Not bad in my opinion. I would love to see around 300 or so RWHP and 325 RWTQ N/A and I think it is possible with that cam and headers. Thanks.
