Default valvetrain questions...

i was recently awarded a slightly used camshaft from a friend of mine....for free. i have kicked back and done my reading so far on this site....i like the mods you guys are doing. my truck, however, is a DD ...about 80 miles a day...and i didnt want to go too radical....

my question: the cam is a small lift <around .530ish> dur. 216/218 on a 114*

1.) is there a decent place to buy ls6 valve springs for reasonable <besides ebay> ??

2.) do i need hardened pushrods, and if so, will the 7.4's work well with my setup?

3.) finally, i am going to go ahead and do titanium retainers while i am in there. where is the most reasonable place to pick up these parts? <i hate sketchy ebay>

thank you for any help/answers in advance!

bump........

i looked at some good prices at scoggins, but i still would like to hear some advice on pushrod/retainers....

are titanium retainers necessary with this little cam, being that i am not gonna rev past 6K rpm....they are VERY expensive compared to the steel ones!!!!

thanks!

You don't need the Ti retainers...

I'm about to have some used LS6 Yellow springs for sale...

i appreciate the offer, but i found some ls6 springs on scoggins for like $52 and chrome- moly pushrods for about $100...... i just need the reatiners i guess.

am i missing something in your sig.....or are you just spraying the **** out of your 4.8??
12.73?? i have my tbs tapped for no2 and plugged right now....but i am gonna spray a 75 shot soon...... you think wet is the way to go? i have heard dry is okay on these motors under 100shot?

thanks

Actually I'm just shooting a 150 wet shot through it.

But the 4.8L is out of the truck now, waiting for the 6.0L to come in...

But yah, I'd just pick up the springs and pushrods and call it a day. Oh and plenty of people spray dry shots, but I'd do the wet setup. Who likes it dry? lol

well, the old lady is always dry... i was gettin tired of that setup anyway!! LOL

is re-using the stock retainers stupid or should you think buying new steel ones is better?

also, has your tranny given you trouble with all the power you are giving it? i hear horror stories of stock 4l60's?

Yeah, just reuse your stock retainers.
