One thing I am considering doing is putting the LS3 heads from my SS sedan that I took off with 4k miles on my truck because I can clean them up and swap the valve springs when I have free time before I do the cam swap to save myself a bunch of time doing the job. So if I did that the retainers and seals would basically be new. I’m still on the fence, I’m not sure what I’ll do with them other than keep sitting on them and maybe sell them one day. I don’t plan on selling the SS any time soon and the longer I have it the less it’ll be worth demodding anyway.

A broken spring is always a risk, even with factory springs. The PSI springs do look nice.

I was curious what they would say and emailed BTR. They said the dual springs were indeed overkill but at the same time it isn’t going to hurt anything. They also said the PSI springs were great and they wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. So those are definitely my two choices. The duals are cheaper unless I didn’t replace the seals and retainers with the PSI springs - I asked BTR what they’d recommend there but haven’t heard back yet.

I read this article from Popular Mechanics a few years ago about PSI springs and how they were started... thought it was a good read.

PSI replied and said the 1511 would be the correct spring and works with the stock retainers and hardware.

I’ve used the BTR kit over and over with high lift cams and had great luck, FI and 13+boosts. I bought a truck with a high lift cam in a 5.3 and PACs and it’s fine...but it’ll get BTR kit at some point.

I ordered the PSI springs and 11/32” pushrods today.
