V6's?

Ok i know that if you want a fast truck go with a v8. Well im going to get a bike instead of doing an engine swap with my truck. 2000 Silverado short bed V6 4.3. Im not trying to be super fast and **** like parish and the other guys but if i added full exhaust, tune, posi, intake, cam kit, fans,3.73 gears, shift kit, and a 75-100 shot i know i would beat a stock v8 5.3 easily but what would my 1/8 est time be? jsut wondering. i also found a few superchargers for mine but it was just a thought. i just want to make it a fast v6....and no i dont want to hear you want to be fast go with a 8. anyone go any est?

If you are going to do all that in hopes of beating a stock 5.3, then trade it on a truck with a 5.3. That way you are starting at the same point and still have cash for the nitrous and other stuff. Remember, if you are not going to make the changes yourself, expect to pay about the equivalent for the parts in install cost.

V6s are more expensive for parts, they are smaller displacement, and it is hard to make one go. You can buy decent mileage 5.3's on here all the time for 500-1000 bucks, I would not spend the money that it would take to make a V6 as fast as a stock 5.3, when for 1000.00 you can have a stock 5.3. I know; the, but no one else has a fast V6, is kinda appealing I don't think it is worth the amount of money you would have to spend. I had a S10, with a 4.3 that was going to cost a fortune to run with stock V8s. That is exactly why I have a 5.3 now.

the "but noone else has a fast v6" is played out there all around to they have strocker kits for the 4.3 and superchargers and turbo's and all that stuff so this isn't anything new. just my .02 but if that what you want go for it.the only way to find out how fast 1/8th mile times would be is to put it all on and run the 1/8th mile.

I agree there are a lot of modded V6s but most of them are in s10's that weigh a lot less than a 1500. I am not trying to discourage anyone, I would love to see V6 running 13's, but in a full size truck it will take more money than it would with a V8 to make it quick.

If you really want something to go fast that you don't see many of, get a jeep. I had a cherokee that could pull mid to high 9's on motor and low 9's on juice. Very fun to outrun some stock 5.0's and "highly" modded imports in a jeep. Hey 00Stepsyde i think i saw you run a Grand Cherokee Limited one night at greer back in may, i think you pulled a 9.9 and he pulled a 10.1

This is one of those rare things where you ask..."why"...."what for"....and my favorite..."are you sure it's a v-6?
