Default Are used ARP rod bolts worth anything?

I have a set of ARP rod bolts on the 6.0 I'm taking apart. New connecting rods come with ARP2000's, so I don't need the ones that are in there. I thought the ARP's were good to reuse, but TSP's website has a comment at the bottom that says is it critically important to replace bolts when they stretch more than .001". What's the deal?

I've never had a problem re-using ARP rod bolts. Matter of fact I never would have even thought of replacing them.

You should replace bolts that have streached. And as you already know, ALWAS replace bolts that are "torque to yield" like those found in our LSX blocks.
So are yours streached?

I dunno. I'm getting new ones, I was wondering if the old ones were worth selling. I'm guessing that's a no. Thought I might be able to get $40 for them or so.

hmm. if you can make sure they arn't streached, I don't see why you couldn't sell them.

I'll have to wait till I have my buddy help me build the engine, he has a stretch gauge.

There is no way to know if a bolt has stretched .001" unless you know what the exact length was out of the box.
Personally, if it was mine, I would re-use them. But most people on this board will always go to the most extreme of conservative. I have run 1970 model sbc stock rod bolts to 6500+ rpm and never had a failure. There is no telling how many times they had been torqued.

i would have no problem reusing them or selling them if they were mine. $40 seems like a fair price.
