Default U-joint problem?

Well my truck seems to shake when going down the HWY at around 60mph and up. Also when ever I apply the brake very gently there is a slight clunk coming from under the truck (every now and then this happens). I'm thinking one of my u-joints has gone bad. Is there any way to know if your u-joints are bad. Anything I need to look for when I take my driveshaft off tomorrow?
Thanks

my u-joints made a nice squeeking sound when they went, metal on metal.
definitely not a silent death

how do your boots look? are they holding lube? that is how mine died.... my boots cracked wide open and just drained lube over time. Could it be your breaking system? uneven rotors or something? when was the last time you had your tires rotated and balanced? how about rotors? (just throwing out ideas here)

i would check the trans, brakes, and driveshaft. i had a trans do that to me once. i got 2500 miles out of it before it died. if i am not mistaken, u-joints aren't that expensive, so you could always change them for the sake of doing it.
