Default Turbo upgrades

Hey guys just wondering, most kits people sell, they want 500 bucks extra to upgrade turbos, now is it because one turbo cost 500 bucks more? Am I missing something? I didnt even think turbos were that expensive in the first place.

If you dont think turbos are very expensive you havent researched at all. A nice 76mm with a coated housing and ball bearings will run you 2K or more. On the other end a 60 like what comes with the sts kit would run you aorund 800 from what I have seen, their gt-67 is a couplehundred more. You are paying mostly for the turbo.

those ball bearings are expensive as ****. They have aerospace-like properties in terms of tolerances and hardness. they spin some insane RPM and see a lot of heat.

ohh yeah! They spool up quickly! Very low friction stuff there. Amazing how long they last at 100k rpm and who knows how hot.
