Default trying to decide on an exhaust setup. Check out what I'm thinking

Just like the subject states, I think I'm gonna go a new route on my exhaust setup. I am currently running a borla catback. I'm thinking about this setup. Headers(haven't decided on brand yet), magnaflow xpipe, cut the cats and install o2 sims, install 2 cutouts(manual or electric, can't decide if I want to spend the cheese for the electric, 2 magnaflow stainless mufflers. Would this be a good setup, and if not, advice or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, that is a nice setup. How does it perform? What brand headers are you running? I would use my borla muffler and add another one, but it is a dual outlet.

Those look like ASM headers. After seeing them up close in a picture, I would prefer my TOG's but if you go with them, get them coated to avoid possible problems with front o2 heater codes. It will also give you a nice look under the hood.

If you're dead set on cutouts, I would gut the cats and put them behind the cats. It will sound REALLY mean behind the gutted cats. It acts as a resonator so to say and it gives it a deep scream rather than just open header loud.

As for a muffler, MagnaFlows are good, but I would give the Hooker AeroChambers a consideration as well. They will sound really good with the headers and gutted cats. The X-pipe will kill some of the noise but makes up for it in power gains in theory.

yep, ASM headers, no cats, x-pipe, borla pro xs mufflers.

works pretty well, it added a little more low-end torque, but you can really start to feel it in the midrange rpms.

plus it sounds cool as hell, lol,

thanks.

Yeah, Kenny, your truck sounds exactly like I want for everyday driving. I wanted the cutouts for the intimidation factor at the track. I just hope I can get close to the sound your truck makes with my 4.8L. What do ya think? My truck is just too quiet with the borla.

Fast4.8 has the same dual setup I have and they sound very similar. I havent been able to tell a hole lot of difference sound wise between the 4.8 and 5.3. I know what you mean about the cutouts. When I redo my exhaust it will have a cutout.
btw.. you joining us in Hattiesburg this sunday? If so I will take you for a ride so you can hear what it sound like in the cab before you make you final decision.

Deckhand, how much did that whole exhaust setup cost you even counting the shop welding and installing unless you happened to do it yourself?

Looks Nice
