Default is it true?

I have been told that leaving the battery unhooked on my truck (2001 silverado w/ a5.3) will cause the computer to reset, or something and then i will have to have it reprogrammed. Any truth to this? The guy who was gonna pull the motor said that he had a little thing to plug into the cigarette lighter to keep from doing this, but i already had it unhooked... Is he just talking about the radio and stuff, or what?

All you might loose is your radio presets and clock setting. Your computer will go through a re-learn process where it optimizes power and mileage over a few hundred miles but you will probably never notice the difference.

Will this method force a crank relearn if needed for a tune, or do you still need to take it to the stealership.
