Truck shutters after downshift.

2000 Chevy ECSB 5.3 4l60e 4x4 3.73 154K bone stock & original.
It only happens when you come to a hill and the pickup downshifts to third. Once it downshifts it does this short lived shutter (1-5 seconds) then it seems to go away. My first guess was misfire, but with no codes present or in history and the conditions when it happens is making it hard to pin down.
Had a trans shop take a look and they said the torque convertor was the most likely culprit. I drained the pan and found metallic flakes in the fluid. So the trans shop did a rebuild on the trans, new converter, electronics & updates, but they did not find anything out of place in the trans so they assumed it was in the converter. Well......the problem is still there.
