I would buy some prc stg 2.5 5.3 heads and a cam close to those same specs and you would have about 1700 in the whole deal.. Use the stock rockers and all.. All you need is heads and a cam.. For some extra insurance you could do the truinion upgrade to the stock rockers..

I don't want to sound like a dick but if u were looking for performance and doing a swap already, why didn't you buy a 6.0?? Sell your 5.3 and buy yourself a lq4 or 9 and cam it with a set of 243s. This will provide you the best bang for buck and put out more power than that trickflow set-up.

If you want to keep the 5.3, call up texas speed and have them design you a complete top end kit. They have everything you need and more...

Was never goin for performance. This will hardly ever see the track but maybe once a month if that. More as reliability wit just a lil get up n go speed. Plus my dad 02 gmc 5.3 has 200k on motor an if ever went out he would take mine n I would start over. I wouldn't sell cuz u never get wut u put in it. But I may call Texas speed. Where r they located

Same thing i was thinking....actually these are the heads i plan on running with the same upgrade and custom spec cam. Does anyone know how hard it is to do the upgrade, and if i sent TSP a set of stock rockers can they just set them up with the kit installed already?

Does anyone have any real world RWHP numbers for one of these kits on a 5.3L?

My buddy bought one of these kits and installed it on an an aluminum block 5.3L engine. The engine had low miles and is installed in a 1966 Ford Fairlane with a 4L65e trans and 9" rear. We were just at the Holley LSFest and it definitely came up short of the 465 crank HP number.

There's no way to determine actual crank HP using a chassis dyno. His converter, wheel/tire combo, and Ford 9" could be eating up more than the usual 20% drivetrain loss. Or there's more left in the tune or other supporting mods, or there's nothing wrong with his setup at all and it just doesn't dyno well.

Always remember, Dynos are just tuning tools...
