Default transmission experts please.

Im trying to get my plans straight for the transmisssion upgrade. Here is my question/ problem. On the FLP website it says its about $2700 + 850 core for the Level 5 4L65. I went to the transmission center and priced the parts and they look to come in right under 1 grand. Either of these ways I will have to pay another $500 to switch my PI converter from one tranny to another.
I saw on here where a member got a 4L80 for $800 so how much more would the parts and labor be for that swap?? I cant imagine near 2 grand.
Just tossing some numbers and ideas out there. What would you guys do. This tranny is looking as though its going to cost more than all of the performance mods combined!!

That's why I am doing an 80 swap in mine too. I have been through 5 trannies in my T/A. The only one that held up was teh FLP but I also never put any real power to it so who knows.

No way in hell am I spending $2k on a tranny that "might" make it.

Just found a 6.0 with 4L80 with 10K miles for 3 grand. I think I'll spend a little more and do it right. I'll be needing some in depth install help in about 6-8 months. Thanks
