Hey guys, sorry I know this doesn't go here but I need help. If I don't get the Dodge Dynasty fixed, my mom will be taking my truck to work for a while, so this is kind of on topic I guess. The car is a 93 with the automatic A604 transmission. The car will go into "limp" mode when it reaches operating temperature. I got the transmission computer scanned and got 2 codes. A 38 and a 41. Here is some info I got off a Dodge website.
Code 38 Lockup control
Note: When controller called for lockup it saw a slip or no lockup at all.
Diagnostic Tip
This code is usually set after a overhaul and has 3 possible causes
1. - Pump Wear - Any amount of wear in the pump pocket between suction and discharge will cause
low pressures to the lockup apply surface of the converter clutch.
2. - Torque Converter - A poor quality rebuilt will cause slippage of the converter clutch.
3. - Solenoid switch valve stuck in L/R position in the valve body causing no lockup.
The problem is most often the pump. Next is the torque converter. Last is the SSV valve stuck in the
valve body.
Important
Most shops when they encounter code 38 replace both the pump and the torque converter
at the same time to avoid a 3rd R and R.
Code 41 to 44 - Solenoid circuit error
41- L/R
42- 2/4
43 - OD
44 - UD
Note: The controller has seen an electrical problem when it tested the solenoid circuit.
Diagnostic Tip
These codes are usually set by:
Opens or shorts in wiring between solenoid pack and controller.
Solenoid or controller connections
Bad controller
Solenoid pack
The first thing the transmission shop said after scanning it was give us your 700 dollars so I told them I would call them back.
Now apparently these two codes may be related through the Low/Reverse solenoid. Do you guys think I should try to replace the solenoid pack? What the heck is a solenoid pack? And do I have to take the whole trans apart to get to it? I tried a fluid and filter change but still no luck. Thanks for the help. Hopefully you guys can help me get it running so I won't have to loan the truck to mom for too long.

I found a "slightly used" solenoid pack on ebay for 25 bucks. I guess it's worth a shot. Anyone know how to remove/replace one of these??? Thanks for the bump red2k.
