How can I tell which tranny I have???

If it is a regular ol' 1/2 ton it should be the 4L60E.

UNless it's a 1500HD or up, then it's the 80e. If you have a desiel it would be the Allison transmission.

That is assuming you have a NBS truck. What kind of truck do you have, then we could tell ya for sure.

just look at it....

seriously though, like they said, you need to give a bit more info on your truck. you can also look up the rpo's under the M listing.

01 sierra 1500 5.3 ECSB 3.42 gears. I just want to know if there is a code in the glove box and which ones stand for what.

From memory, so someone correct if wrong:

M30 = 4L60-E
M32 = 4L65-E
M33 = 4L60-E for Hybrid
MT1 = 4L80-E

I don't know the code for the 4L85-E, but those are found only in Avalanche, Yukon XL, and Suburban with the 8.1.

you will have the m30 which is the 4l60e.
