Question Tranny temp ?

For those with factory tranny cooler. What does your temp. gauge read. Today I noticed mine was just a hair over 200. Is this normal or high?

My friend's temp with a factory cooler was in the 170's while mine was in the 190's without a cooler. This was in hot summer month of July.

right now if I dont ride in 3rd gear to long my temps stay below 180*. if I let it ride in 3rd and my stall doesnt lock up I noticed it got too 200* today.
then all I do is make sure the fans keep running and put it in 4th.

I'm thinking just over 200 is high considering it was only 72 or 73 today. Maybe its time for an aftermarket cooler. Any recommendations?

I use the B&M 11X11X1 1/2. Rated for 29,200 btu. Does a good job, added about an extra qt capacity.

Yes 200* is a bit scary to me. Factory heat exchangers and coolers aren't the greatest. I also have a low temp T-stat and 3/4 ton radiator to help dissipate heat easier.

B&M Supa Cooler is my choice.

I use the B&M 28,000 gvw cooler. Temps with the factory cooler were ~180, now they stay ~150.

My temps run about 135 to 150 around town. I pulled my boat Friday to the lake about 60 miles on the highway and temp got a little over 160 @ 70 mph in overdrive. The weather was about 75 deg. I am running the Hayden #1679 30,000 lbs tranny cooler also.
