Dood ... that sucks. I'd be pissed.

At least Chuck is going to hook you up. He give you any kind of idea about a price?

first thing, i never expected a stock 4l80e to go forever, i think it did great lasting as long as it did. based on my experience i would have to say a stock 4l80e is about as strong as the best built 4l60e's. a built 4l80e should be a monster.

i talked to Chuck at FLP and he was prety pumped up and wants to build a 4l80e for my truck, he actualy seemed excited about it and with the great customer service i got with my last tranny i would be nuts not to go with him again. he is sending out a shipping crate right away and it sounds like he will be jumping right on it as soon as he gets it.

now for the crappy news, my truck broke down in the getto last night. i was probably stoped on the side of the road for 15sec's when i heard a loud clunk/bang sound. i had other things to worry about at the time so kind of forgot about it till just a few minutes ago. look what i found.

some little bastard that shouldn't have been out at 11:30pm anyways thru something at my truck and messed it up prety good. i am not bothered about the tranny at all or breaking down or the tow. none of that bothers me but this crap really pisses me off

anyways, i figured on a tranny someday and today is the day. i will be one step closer to 9's once i get this fixed
Damn the little **** sticks! My tranny is on its way out the door I think. Once I get the cam and stall in it : Bye Bye tranny.

I have a shift kit sitting in the floor for it, I'm just trying to decide if I want to tackle it myself or not. I am sure I will, I've never let anyone else work on my truck (not even friends) I lowered it, put the blower on, thermo, everything. I think just for bragging rights alone I should do it myself. Now I need to decide if I want to go forward with the 4l60, or just buy a damn T56 and have some real fun

Here are my questionable problems:

Does the crank have provisions for a pilot bearing?

Can I find a clutch that will hold my power and still slip to be able to back a trailer, or hook on to the trailer (don't want it to be grabby and slam me into the trailer)

That is about it, shifter isn't a biggie, I can make one, I may have a long trough for a while, but I am sure I can make something (I am creative ) Clutch pedal, master and slave cylinders will be easy, clutch line can be braided steel. Flywheel I can get from the doner car hopefully.

that is pretty funny.

Ya I'm right with you parish. A blown part that costs $1800 to build up (i guess $3000 in yours)...no problem. But a scratch on the outside!! Ah man all hell breaks loose

retsell .. the crank should be the same that's in a standard truck. I've read and through research I've figured that the t56 will bolt right up to the standard trucks.

I would think as long as you get all the stuff from a doner truck (the clutch and all) it will work. I'm sure you could find the clutch if you needed it. How much money would be the question.

I am in pretty good with the salvage yards, so it wouldn't be too bad, I would expect to spend a couple grand.

LOL, kinda. I still don't see why you smoked that many 3-4 packs and nothing else took a dump.

I don't either. I think it had something to do with the PCM flash. It did the SAME EXACT thing both times. It's like 3rd is just free wheeling. 1st and 2nd still run strong.
