Default Tranny Probs

Tranny keeps over heating! I had problems about 2 months ago, so I took it in to my local dealer (which i know the service manager) and they pretty much replaced the entire guts. So they said. Now 2 mothes later, my truck wont shift into 3rd at all. I havent been hard on it at all because I knew it had to be broke in but I guess ill be talking it in on monday. This is pretty much what happend last time but it was 2nd instead of 3rd. Oil smells a little burnt now that all this has happend. Do yall think it could have something with my coolier not cooling right? Also who makes the best aftermarket tranny and how much do they run?

Do you have a cooler or just the factory heat exchanger?

Your pump could be bad, the rebuild could suck, etc

Well if your trans rebuild's forward driven clutch packs (forward clutch, 3-4 clutch pack) aren't replaced better than stock...they will keep dying.

I think the factory sticks 5 maybe 6 clutches in the 3-4 drum. Well depending on what kit you choose to rebuild it...you can go from a min of 6 thicker clutches to 9 thinner ones!

If you lost 2nd gear you should have lost 4th also.

A simple cooler ~$50 will solve many over heating problems.

GM is turning into Dodge with their trannies...they SUCK in stock form. They are built to the bear minimum to operate.

Where are you located at? If you are near Ft Worth I could get your tranny rebuilt cheap. The transmission guy at my work is always looking for side work. Do you have reverse?
Usually when he rebuilds one he installs all new clutchs, seals, Vette servo, 4L65 3-4 clutchs, drills the spacer plate, turns the pressure control solenoid up, and replaces the reverse input drum with a thicker aftermarket on. They seem to hold up very well. He rebuilds every person's tranny at a local speed shop.
Texas is a transmission killer. Good luck.

Usually between 700 and 800. It depends if alot of hard parts are damaged and if he has to pull it out. He will not be there until Thursday. I will talk to him and see if he has alot to do.
You have a 02, is it still under warranty or do you have an extended warranty?
