Default Tranny Help Please

Hey guys iam having a problem with my tranny. My truck is 2000 with a 5.3 and it has 30,000.When i go full throttle it will not shift into the next gear, it will hit the limiter and wont go into the next gear until i let off the gas. Today i was riding along when the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT came on. I got home and call the dealership and they told me that the only reasons that the light would come on would be because of emmisons and the tranny. Is my tranny messing up? I have a whipple and headers.

I have had Parish8 tell me that his tranny was hitting the rev limiter before it went out and the another one of my friends told me that hes was doing the same thing before it went out.

My question is should i just rebuild the one in the truck or should get a new one. Please give me suggestions i am very new to the Chevy site.

do you have reverse at all, and does your transmission make any abnormal noises? the 4l60 is bad about breaking the reaction sun shell, no 2nd or fourth. no reverse also. you should get the truck scanned and see what the code is.

"I got home and call the dealership and they told me that the only reasons that the light would come on would be because of emmisons and the tranny." I hope this isnt what a dealer told you. The SES light will come on for almost anything from engine back to the fuel sender. Sound like maybe a shift valve may be sticking . If the SES light is on then it prob. have a code for the shift problem.

yea first thing you should do is have your truck scanned then post up the code, it maybe as simple as a tps sensor malfunction.
