tranny cooler help
#1
ok i have used the search button for finding a trans cooler and it seems that the best one to get is the Tru-Cool Max transmission cooler P/N LPD47391. but my searching didnt find any install how to's or anything like that. my truck is an 06 rcsb and has a tiny little 4x8 (at best) cooler on it will this one be a direct replacement? what size threads are on the lines that go to the cooler, im hoping they are 3/8 like the tru cool uses because i would really rather not use any rubber hoses/clamps. can someone confirm this for me or point me in the right direction?

A. i dont really care about how it looks, im more of a function kinda guy.
B. i want to stay hardline if at all possible because braided stainless is still rubber underneath, which will eventually leak
C. i dont want to eliminate the radiator from the cooling system, i just want to directly replace the stocker with this, if its fittings are the same. so could someone just tell me if they are the same fitting or not? like could i pop out the old cooler remove the fitting on it, install the fitting in the new one and click in the lines?

It's not a direct replacement, you'll have to plumb something in. The tru cool is much wider than the tiny factory cooler. Not sure if the fitting would screw right on, but I doubt if the tru cool and the factory cooler use the same style of line and fitting.

The factory cooler has 3/8" NPT fittings and the TRU-Cool has 3/8" inverted flare, you could probably buy some 3/8" tubing, flare nuts, unions, etc. and plumb you own hardlines. that's what i was planning on doing but didn't have time, so i just used the rubber hose and clamps that came with the cooler.

Yes there will be some fabbing of tubes, if you want to keep hard line. The new cooler will mount infront of your rad... I used rubber hose, much easier, looks fine, I have it all zipped nice and uniform. Can't even see the hoses with the grille, ever thing in the way..
