Looks like I've got the upper hand on the guesses.

Sorry about the front dif Jim. Hope its OK. Mine has a constant leaking. GM service says its common and nothing to worry about. Told me just to check the fluid level now and then.

yea, good guess, it is still working and i haven't stoped making runs but it is starting to make more noise and i can move the drives side flage up and down more than should be normal. prety sure it is the adjuster nut keeper on the side bearing again, just not sure what to do about it.

yes, the reason i am prety sure i am right is that i just did it 4-5000miles ago, the nut retainer has a little bent over piece of metal, it had straitened itself somehow. had to replace the bearings too. how do i keep it form hapening again?

Hey Parish, what kinda noise is it(your front diff) making?
Mine makes noise when I am turning tight when it's in auto trac or 4 hi( I use auto trac most of the winter here)
It makes a high pitched moaning or creaking. Pretty easy to hear. It does not do it in 2wd.
Is this what you are talking about?
Thanks. Sam
Do you know what the hell this noise is? It has fluid, and the fluid is almost up to the filler hole.

that noise you are talking about is normal, especialy in 4hi with good traction. your driveline is in a bind and complaining a bit. it isn't suppose to do that in auto4wd but mine does soemtimes, it seems to think you are loosing traction and locks up the transfer case around a sharp turn. you might want to see if your tires need rotating, the problem was worse when i has bald(short) tires on the back and better tires up front.
i get a howling in a strait line, it is still not too loud but this is how it started before, eventualy it will make noise in 2wd and that is when i will have to fix it.
