Lingenfelter markets the LS9 spring as being compatible for camshafts in the .580" and under lift range with 1.800" installed height when purchased in a matched set that has been checked for coil bind height to insure that they all have a maximum coil bind height of 1.190".
By sorting the springs LPE excludes LS9 springs that don’t meet the 1.190” specification. This makes them an excellent direct replacement for all stock LS2, LS6, or LS3 spring applications. The LPE sorted LS9 springs are painted blue with a silver stripe for easy identification and actually have a tighter coil bind height tolerance than the LS2/LS6 springs that are no longer available. The non-verified springs are commonly marketed as being good to .570” lift from most vendors and the typical .550” figure stated in GM’s literature for the LS6 springs most likely comes from that being the largest camshaft that was factory installed with those springs. |
So do I have the ls9 springs then if mine are blue? Or do you have to but them from lpe to Get them?

Max lift isn't the only rating to consider when selecting a set of springs. The LS6 springs are just too soft to reliably control the TR220 lobes. They work fine with the original low lift, slower ramp comp lobes though. If you use LS6 springs with a TR220, keep the shift points at 5500. Any higher than that, and you're in questionable territory. Be safe and buy a set of PAC springs that have a higher seat load. This way, you won't have to worry about valve float, or the valves bouncing on the seat as they close at high rpm.

i have the #799 heads on my 2012 5.3 and my local chevy dealer said the springs are only rated at 520 lift not 550 like the ls6 springs!

Do a search on tech, a good limit for the LS6 springs is 0.550". I would go with some PAC 1218's, I'm using them on my 0.561" lift cam, so far so good! And they are affordable.

i would honestly use ls9 springs from ligenfelter. they are good to .580" lift and only cost $70
|
The problem with LS6/LS9 springs is the low seat pressure. The aggressive lobes on the TR220 plus the low seat pressure of the LS6/LS9 springs = valve float at higher rpms... NO good
