Default TR 220 tuning issues

Well after a long wait, Thunder Racing will be installing thier 220 cam in my truck this saturday. TR220/112 cam, 918s, pushrods, asp pulley and A dyno tune on monday. What are some things I should ask Geoff to tune in or out of my truck? What kind of shift points am I going to see with this cam? All the guys at Thunder say I should be fine shifting at 6500 on stock bottom end. that seems a little high to me, but hell they are the masters. Anything you guys can think of that would help out with this tuning would be appreciated

I'm pretty conservative on my shift points with the TR224. They're at around 6300-6400. I've been told that going any more than that, I would probably run out of injector. The truck is still pulling pretty hard when it shifts, so I know there's room for a little more there.

Wow, 6500? I only spun mine to like, 6100 a few times. It was still pulling strong and it sounded MEAN. I think 6500 is commonly thought of as 'borderline' in requiring TI retainers and ARP rod bolts, right? I personally don't like to rev over 6K, but I'm real conservative with all my choices/setups/mods. (see cam and converter )

Other than tuning the "usual" stuff (part throttle, WOT), there's really nothing else that I found was needed. I had mine idling at 650 in PN, 600 in G.

Set the shift rpm a few hundred past peak hp for max effort. Helps with rpm drop after shift, to maintain acceleration.

Once you get the dyno tune, you'll be able to figure out where to set it.

Keep us informed with your results. I'm really interested as to how much faster you cross the traps.
