I recently installed a Transgo shift kit and after some driving I notice now that at part throttle acceleration (enough to get it to shift down) when it makes it's upshift, the revves jump just before the shift occurs. Then the truck shifts into gear and continues on. Is this TQM or something else?

That is not on your 2-3 shift is it? If so, that is what mine started doing, and continued to get worse and worse. At full throttle, it would slip 1,000 rpm's. You better hope it is not burnt 2-3 clutches, because that means rebuild time. Good luck.

That's exactly when it does it, on the 2-3 shift. We noticed that the 2nd gear check ball was wearing through the metal diaphram plate on the valve body when we were installing the transgo, maybe that is the problem?

If your reving before it shifts, your tranny is slipping and is on it's way out in most cases. This is one reason I have procrastinated putting mine in, because even when I bought the kit, the tranny had 58k on it. My tranny has 66k on it now and is still strong. But when the engine goes it and all the upgrades are done (ie: 3500 stall, transgo, servo etc...) I know that tranny may last a month with the HP I'll be putting to it.

Boy, this is just not my week. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
First the Flexalite fans don't seem to want to operate properly, then I come home today and the furnace died and after an $84 house call by the heating guy the furnace started acting up again which means I have to take a day off of work tomorrow so someone is home when they come to look at it again. Now my tranny is possibly about to give up.
I recall now a few times before the Transgo with just the HPP3 shift firmness that the 2-3 seemed to slide into the upshift almost like feathering a clutch while the rpms stayed at the same level.

The only good side to having a tranny re-build is you will actaully have a tranny that shifts like it is supposed to. No more sloppy shifts, just quick, firm and precise.
Just to let you know, I drove over 12,000 miles on a slipping tranny, so if you can take babying it, you don't really need a re-build.

That's the problem. I want a tranny that will perform the way it's supposed to. I can't stand having to limp around while I know a problem exists. I'm the "fix right away and properly the first time" kindof person.

Count me in the same boat. Mine started slipping on the 2-3 about a month after I put in the 6.0 I have been babying it around and sometimes driving one of my other vehicles trying to make it last til I have time to fix it. I ordered and just received a rebuild kit and a conv. so maybe next week I will have time to get started on it. I can't wait to be able to put the pedal to the metal again!

The 3rd clutches in the 4L60E from what i've heard are one of the weak links, if you think it's the clutches pull them out and replace them now, with good Raybestos or HD packs. It will save a full rebuild, if you want to save money and it sounds like it, if you don't, you'll have all kinds of material in the fluid and you'll have to flush everything in order to do it properly, I know, i just went thru it.

I had the same problem. I changed my 2nd servo and everything is better now. I used part #093. The piston size is different. Bigger I think. Talk to a tranny shop.
