Do I need any special tools other than the normal stuff to rebuild a 6.0

x2... Hell even professional engine builders have a hard time making a reliable motor (from what I've seen on this board).

What is your idea of "Normal Tools"?
GM has a Essential tool kit for the LS Based motors that costs about $2500. And it doesn't do much.

Come on guys, give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he's trying to find out what specialty tools he'll need, ie: crank remover,pulley install tool, valvespring compressor, etc

Thats it. I know what it takes to build a motor but this will be the first LS motor I will assemble. Gonna break it down soon and take it to the machine shop. Just gonna do a refreshing on it or may bore it for a 370. Gonna get it ready to go in come spring time. Just didn't want any suprises when I get ready to put it back together. I know I need a balancer installer and will probably buy one from I think dirt track racer on here. Thanks for the help guys.

Also there's a plastic oil plug behind the rear cover that looks like a barbell when pulled out, make sure that gets back in there.
