Default Too much head?? Lol

Not that kind of head! I've got a stock block LQ9 with Frankenstein ported 317's, custom 222/228 Frankenstein cam, tbss intake, long tubes, true duals, in a 2002 extended cab Silverado. I'm flirting with the idea of changing to Frankenstein CNC ported 237 trick flows and a larger cam. Somewhere in the 240 range on the exhaust side. I make 400/420 to the wheels now with a 6000 rpm redline but I'm afraid these heads will be too big and kill my low end torque. Frankenstein says the heads will work on a 6.0 with the right cam but I still am hesitant to change because I do not want a the truck to be a pig of a daily driver. With only high rpm power. What do you think of the set up in a heavy *** Silverado? I'm tired of the setup I currently run so I'm ready for a change but I drive this truck every day. I even took it on vacation from Dallas to Vegas so drivability is a concern. Anybody out there running a 6.0 with big ported heads and large cam in a heavy truck?

My TMS LQ9 longblock was built with TMS CNC 317s and a 226/232 cam. I like it, it pulls plenty hard for me and with the FTI 3800 stall, if I nail it from a stop, traction is non existent in 1st and 2nd.

My set up now is fun but I'm looking to add more. I also have a 200 shot but it would be nice to turn it up some more on motor. Just worried about losing the low end if the runners are too big or the cam. Although Frankenstein trick flow 237's flow like crazy in low lifts.

They're a tad on the large side. Combined with a cam that large you will most definitely have a high RPM screamer that lacks on the bottom.

Yes, I have seriously considered a Spike Performance turbo set up. Honestly the turbo would cost about the same as heads/cam so that might be a better choice.

maybe the kit is the same cost.

Also, tbss intake is going to be a bottleneck, might already be one. It was on my lq9 with untouched afr 225s.

sorry i might be digging up a old thread, im new to the forum, im kinda in the same boat as you! i was wondering if you had a stall already with that cam? i have a btr stage 2 with stock stall, ported 799 heads milled to 59cc.. i dynoed 365rwhp and 396ft lbs in my extedned cab 6.0 swapped silverado. i want a bigger cam just dont want a bigger converter. how does your truck drive with that cam? what did you end up doing? thanks!

Still haven't decided. Leaning toward the turbo. But not real sure. The right Turbo will get me around 700rwhp all the time or I could go with the Frankenstein 237 trick flows and bigger cam, turn some rpm and hit maybe 450 rwhp or more then with the bottle still hit around 700 rwhp. I like nitrous but turbos are probably the way to.
