do you have stock manifolds and cats? Regardless, the 40 series is known for its unnecessary loudness and drone. I'd recommend a dynomax race series multi-chamber or go with bullets.

For some reason Dynomax bullets, even though they are straight through designs, are aweseome for sound. I had 1 3", 18" long bullet on my LS1 and the drone really wasn't that bad. You could talk and listen to music easily, but you knew it was there.

I'm doing true duals with 2 2 1/2" bullets.

I wouldnt go with flowmaster, but thats just me... there are other straight thru design mufflers that are way cheaper than flowmaster plus they perform better.... I would get magnaflow, borla, or any other straight thru design... I got the hooker aerochamber and love it..... not bad for $59....

I run the magnaflow xfactor and love it. Isn't loud like the flowmasters and very little drone.

Id get a Magnaflow. I have the smallest SS Magnaflow I could find 4x9x11 With the cats it sounded awesome. WHen I gutted the cats, it got raspy and agrivatingly (is that a word? ) loud. I just had a 3" bullet added, and ran the pipe to the rear instead of right before the rear tire, and it sounds much better. Killed all the rasp too. its still loud outside the truck, but sounds great inside the truck.

well could i add a resinator or a bullet infront of the 40 series and quiet it down, i would think that would be the easiest.
