28x12.5x15 ET streets, 29 inch tire in the front. 4.10 gears 5800 rpm rev limiter and it hasn't hit it doing 103.83 through the traps.

yes!

OK, I'm starting to get a little confused here. Why do some people swap to 3.90 or 4.10 gears and run 28" race tires? To me that is totally defeating the purpose of making a gear swap to begin with. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought the reason for swapping gears is not only to increase the 60' time, but also make the right tire/gear combo so the truck can cross the finish line making maximum power.(high rpm's) I think that's one of the basics of drag racing....OR am I missing something?
I did the 20's for the street 16's for the track last two years. For the half a dozen times I go to the track a season it wasn't worth it.
As for tires I run Nitto 305/45-18 in the back and the matching 295/45 in the front.

Now, I drive to the track, pay my fee and head right up to the line, full street trim. 4.10's and all. I get much more enjoyment beating someone on the street than maybe getting to line up with them at the track.

And going fast around corners is fun too,
I'm not saying my way is better i'm just answering your question to why somone would put 28" tall tires on with 4.10's. I think it also looks just right on a 2-4 drop.

I'm starting to re-evaluate my street traction issue as well. I have some 28" hoosier slicks for the track (waiting on built trans to use them), but on the street the 275/45/20's aren't cutting it. I thought the Hankooks would be a bit better than the GTII's but they're not much better....can't even roll into half throttle from a stop withough spinning and having to let off.

I've been thinking about some wide 18's with Nitto 555r's , and 555's up front....but the 20's are the perfect size as far as looks.

Another option would be to sell the slicks and just buy some nice wide rear wheels+drag radials on them, drive to the track....but track is 2 hours away....

I wish we could get a 20" drag radial...something like a 275/35/20 or 275/40/20?

i run 20's in the front and 16" $50.00 american racing rims with 28x11.5 m/t et streets on the rear. I really dont care how it looks right now when im racing. I pull 1.7 60's all day long. But the tires spin on the rims. I am looking into having a set of 16x10 and 16x6 bogarts made for it. for two reasons: 1. they are light as hell and 2. they look kick ***.

I have nitto drag radials on my truck and I wasnt able to hook. I have the 245/50/r16's. Yes, they look a little funny but it gives me more gear.

SpeedisSS: Are those rims 6 lug and where did you get them from if they are?

LTNKLR01: Do you have a website to those bogarts you were talking about ?
How light are those rims ?

Creed- I understand your situation and I love your combo by the way.
I have my 20's for street use also, but when I'm going to the track i swap out to the 26" tires for a better gear ratio and less rotating mass. I wanna sell these 20's b/c I rather 18's w/ drag radials on the rear( for a more race inspired look) but when I go to the track i'm gonna swap out the rear to the 26" e.t.'s again. What I really meant was; Why use a 28" slick if you don't have to. IMO the 26" does not look goofy, and 9/10 people won't say anything b/c they know that it helps. Take a look at the pics From the Shoot out in the General truck talk section. Everyone there had the 26's and looked ok. By the way, the blue and grey w/hood scoop is me.

I plan on running the 305/45 nittos for the street and the occasionaly wed night trip to the track but will still throw on the 26" ET Street for a day at the track. Still debating if I want to change my gear ratio from the 3.73 I have now though.
