Default Tired of GM's "that's good enough" attitude!

I'm REALLY disappointed with the Silverado SS coming out. Doesn't GM read all the GM truck forums? We begged for a Lightning eating, SRT-10 $hitting truck, and what to we get? A limp dick SS of a truck. It's nothing more than a C3 with 20 more HP because of the Cadillac 6.0L engine. Some in here will shoot me but my next truck is a Ford. I need a back seat, the Lighting won't work and the SRT-10 @ an estimated 50K, is to much money and won't work. I'm probably going to get an 03 Super Crew, the information I've gotten from the Ford Forums is that they are going to have the 3 valve 305 hp 5.4L engine and 3.73 gears will be an option. The only reason I got my Silverado was it had more HP but it did have less torque and I wanted 3.73 gears, Ford only offered 3.55's. The back seat in my ext cab isn't big enough, and a 4 dr Chevy is to long for my garage. I've always like the Super Crews, now with more power, it looks Like I will be driving one. If you've read my posts, I've never bash Ford or any other brand (ricers excluded of course). It'll be a while but I think I'm Ford bound, I don't like the looks of the Dodge.

my dad has a ford and they're not bad trucks. they're functional and everything and i like the looks too. but don't really expect to be racing it. they're slugs plain and simple. my 4.8 to his 4.6 is like night and day. i feel like i'm towing a house behind me when i drive his truck. i can only assume the 5.3 vs 5.4 will be the same way. and my truck seems to ride better too. his truck is at stock hight and feels like its got a 6 inch lift on some skinny *** tires. just my opinion.

also i think the SS is a lame excuse for performance. but that's the way GM is going it seems. SS is just a badge, some cosmetics, 20 more HP, and a lot more money. i guess its just up to us to buy regular models and make our own SS.

Well Jim, with a new truck, you can start your stopwatch 0-60 time collections fresh. Since you have tried every available air filter and muffler on the market, if you get a ford, you can see if the same holds true for them. You might be able to come up with a 3 axis chart that shows the relationships between GM and ford with different air filters and mufflers.

Would you really have bought the $40,000+ Silverado SS if it had been a supercharged 6 liter?

I do like to play and my current set up is the best so far. Oh ya, I didn't test one air filter and I ordered it yesterday, Amsoil. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Then it would need AWD, pushing over 450 hp. If it would have been under 40K, I would have saved and put down a big down payment to make the monthly payments reasonable. So yes, I would have bought one.
