Default Throttle Position sensor gone bad...

I didnt know why i was losing shift pressure for about a week now. It seemed that when the engine heated up that when I had it at WOT the rpms would sit at 2500 rpms and stay still. I thought maybe it was something in the bell housing bc i heard a rattleing and than i found a housing bolt that was never put back on by my "wonderful" mechanic that did my converter for me about 3 months ago.

So, I took it to AAMCO. I trust the guys there and know two of them personally. They do a great job and are actually honest. So they ran the codes that have been setting off the ses light. I forget the exact codes, but one had to do with the Throttle postion sensor failing. Another had to do with my egr, but I kno what that is( i deleted my egr in my tune but actually never took it off... i'll be doing that soon enough). But anyway, I was wondering how much a throttle sensor should cost because, he said for you I'm just going to Charge you for the Computer Diagnostics ($120) and than the cost of the part, no labor. So even though I trust the guys, I still want to know the price of one so If i have to, i can call them out on anything weird they might try to pull on me.

I'm glad that its NOT a transmission problem... but If anyone could get me a price on that sensor, that would be great, thx.

I priced one a few weeks ago. Dealership $90, but this dealership is known to be high. Advance Auto was $35. It takes about 5 minutes to swap out. For some reason the trucks with traction control, like mine, use a different TPS. I would call the dealership with your VIN and ask the price and then call Autozone etc... and see the difference.

Gees $120 to read ses codes! I'm gonna open up a shop

Doesn't Autozone read them for free?

Hope you get it all fixed

He ended up only charging me 50 bucks for the diagonistics bc it didnt take that long... he took it for a drive and than I took it for a drive no probs. But than on the way home it did it again. At WOT it sat at a stagnant rpm, this time it was higher bc it was during interstate driving, but it wouldnt accelerate. Than, after pumping the gas, it would easily start to accelerate again and than the rest of the way home no problems, no ses light... so i called him and told him that it did it again. He wants to bring it back tomorrow anyway, but i took it out again tonite and the ses light has came back on, but its running fine, shifting great, and is responsive at WOT. So i have no clue whats up anymore...
