the bbk is WAY to touchy just off idle. it is the first mod i have done to my truck that would make me afraid to lend my truck to someone. it lunges when you are trying to take off easy and it also messes up the shiftpoints, causes it to lug more when it should shift down. maybe the whipple and bbk put together are a bad combo or maybe the bbk just sucks, i am not sure.

I took mine off yesterday, and it had alot of build up on it, and the intake area did too.

It seemed oily and crud-like. I was at a friends shop and didnt have any b12, but some thrust cleaner. Did a decent job, but there is still some crap there. The back of the blade is black and wont come off, I do believe with b12 it will.

Here is a question though, Is it the PCV or the EGR?
It did seem oily and carbon like all together. I didnt see how far in to the intake it went, but from where i could see it was the same as the back of the tb. I saw that dealerships have some way to clean it, with spray or something, just forgot the link.

what do i do?

Question

I know this is an old post but I decided to do a search instead of being lazy and making a new one. I say that because I almost did it.

I was wondering if someone could tell me what is all involved in cleaning the TB? It feels like TB is sticking. I started noticing that whenever I go to press the gas pedal, that it feels like gets stuck and I have to push a little harder to get it down. Can someone also tell me if that is what my problem is or is it something else? And what is the TSB that the other guys were talking about and where can I find it?

I'm glad you brought this up too!

My dad's 2001 Caddy is doing this and so is our 98 Blazer. I bought some 'tb cleaner' at a parts store and plan on taking the intake off up to the t/b on both cars, spraying a clean rag with the cleaner, and wiping it around the blade and t/b area as much as I possibly can. I figure this will take about 10 minutes each and won't require taking off the t/b of either one.

How does that sound?

the most recent bulletin on this is number: 02-06-04-054b. you open the throttle a little bit by spec, install the new style pcv valve, and put a plug in the air bypass hole. pn#'s 12572717 and 12580749 (12581011 if yours came with the correct pcv valve).

Is there a particular brand of 'tb cleaner' to use?

Is there a website that lists all the TSBs?

The one I got is a name brand, but I can't remember exactly (STP I think?). It was next to a bottle on the shelf that said "Carb Cleaner", but I thought "Throttle Body Cleaner" maybe had just a slightly more specific formula to what I was looking for.

There is a website called http://www.alldata.com that lists tsb's, http://www.alldata.com/recalls/index.html

I have cleaned my TB a few times and it seems to fix the sticking temporarly. The best fix is to adjust the throttle stop a little to open the blade a hair more. Just try to open the TB by hand and if it sticks adjust the stop about 1/8 turn untill it doesn't stick.
