Default Thoughts on buying a Vortec for my Denali

I'm weighing all my options on superchargers and turbos for my '02 6.0 AWD Denali. I can get a new in the box (bought but never put on the truck) Vortec, polished, non-intercooled 4GL218-068SQ.

Question:
1. What is a good price on this? Looks like "retail" is $3700 (new, obviously with Vendor "support").
2. What else would be needed to bolt this on? Some sort of tuning I would assume?
3. Would I be better off spending more on a Radix (or others)?
5. Would I be better off with a $3600 STS Turbo?

My goals are to make the Denali faster and more fun, but it doesn't have to be rediculously fast. Maybe around the 380-400awd HP level. (It's 280 now).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

You will get more low end torque from the STS. I personally would not put a centrifugal blower on one of these heavy trucks, unless it was a dragstrip only exercise.

I would and will go with the STS when I can get rid of this Vortech. Along with the system (STS) you will need injectors, tune, and I would also go with a FMIC. You may also want to look at the larger turbo. Trust me, nothing is more frustrating than spending a bunch of money on a system and then finding out that there is NO room for growth. Also the way Vortech deals with upgrades goes something like this " turn around and stay very still, now Im going to slap the back of your head and my buddy is going to kick you in the nuts"
You can get a very sweet STS setup for alot less than a "decent" vortech setup. With a 6.0 I wouldnt even consider going with vortech if it were given to me.

I have a Sierra Denali myself, Stay away from a centrifical blower unless you plan on running a fairly high stall. I personally favor turbos, I also feel that if you go the turbo route on your Yukon Denali you will be very pleased. STS and Livernois Motorsports both make turbo kits. If you must go the supercharged route then I would say that the radix would be the best bet by far.

I like the idea of the STS Turbo based on initial price. I wonder if you can run the "upgraded turbo" at 5psi, using the stock injectors and fuel pump? Then down the road add the injectors/pump, change the tune, and turn the boost up.?.?

I don't really like the idea of running a stock fuel pump and injectors with the STS kit but it is totally doable. All you have to do is reduce the timimg enough to keep things safe and you're good to go. You won't get max power out of that 5psi but you already knew that.
