Default Those using The LS4 block with the 60* bolt pattern, what trans are you using?

I have a 2007 Impalla SS 5.3L engine sitting in my dining room with 12k on it. I orginally bought it for the 243s to have them sent out to Lloyd Elliot and have them ported then to put my 241s on this engine and sell it. I have recently come across this forum and see people using the LS4 in their trucks? What are you guys using for transmissions? The LS4 was designed to have the starter in the transmission bellhousing. Do they make a rear wheel drive transmission with a starter location for the LS4?

I've been researching and cannot find any information. I have the 4T60E-HD transmission as well that came with my engine that i was thinking of selling to. I know this engine can be run carbureted using and MSD6012 box and i am extremely interested in finding out of a starter bracket can be made. I am looking into isntalling it in my friends S10-ish mini truck since it's so light weight.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Shawn

I was curious about this for my Samurai because it is smaller than a 350. I since desided that I would just toss in a LS1

Does your samurai have a starter provision in the transmission? Or does your starter mount to the block?

I want to hear confirmation from ANYONE who as use ANY TRANSMISSION behind the LS4. Whether is be the T5, the NV3550, the Toyota R150, the V6 4l60e, WHATEVER transmisison ANYONE has successfully use. What flywheel or flex plate you used. I cannto find ANY information or ANY swaps. I know there is a shop that converts transmissions for Cadillac Northstar engines that are FWD with a 60* pattern but their start mounts up between the heads. I need my starter to mount to the transmission. WHO has successfully mated any transmisison to an LS4?

You might want to try the conversion section in LS1 tech. I have not heard of anyone using an LS4 around here. As far as I know, the LS4 uses a different crank than the standard LS engines.

Yeah 800+ plus of my posts are from that forum helping people with their ls1 swaps haha. I had one member from this forum say hes running a 4l60E behind his LS4 but i have yet to find a way to do it. I have an LS4 and several transmission and convters in my yard and cannot get them to mate up. From what i have mesuared the LS4 crank bolter pattern is the same as the LS1 flywheel bolt pattern. The converter pattern is different and the LS1 is obviously a larger flywheel.

A friend Toyota (S10) Mini truck. His Toyota W59 manual trans will bolt to a V6 dakota bellhousing which will bolt to the LS4 bolt pattern with a starter provision in the bellhousing. The flywheel and input shaft length are stilll a mystery though.

Why can’t you mate an adapter plate to the trans and of course the converter bolts would need to be longer. Find a machine shop
