i dunno why it is but it didn't net me anything. maybe if you had like a stock muffler with a cutout before it, maybe you would gain a little but still not much...it does sound cool though

cutouts are meant for vehicles that are looking for every last ounce of power. cut outs arent meant to change the sound of a ride as a cheap replacement for a muffler

i will be running 2 cutouts off the headers. a single cutout is somewhat pointless unless you have a fbody where the muffler is at the very end of the exhaust system.

a straight pipe in replacement of a muffler has nothign to do with emissions.

Makes sense, I never thought about why they came about, figured being abnoxiously loud has something to do with it. What kind of cut-outs are you gonna run and how much hp you figure they will free up being that close to the headers?

I have my cats cut off and in their place 2 summit cut outs. I have them pointed down and outward as far as they will go without hitting the frame. The only problem I have is being a 2wd truck some clearance issues but nothing major. I never really smell exhaust when they are open but they are super loud. It sounds good but accelerating resonates terribly in the cab, which is good if your racing someone but after a week or so having them open I put them on so I can listen to the radio and talk on the phone while I drive. I would say go with the 3 bolt set up over electric it only takes me a few minutes to get both of them on and off.
