Default think i might built my motor more instead of goin lifted...

so as the title says i think i would rather build a fast truck rather than a lifted once since everyone around where i live is lifted and dog *** slow...so i was lookin into doin a head and cam swap...either the PRC stg 2.5's, the patriot 243s thatre on sale on summit, or the Edelbrock/Lingenfelter heads (which i have no idea how good they are)...cam depending on what gear and stall i have will be a tr220 at smallest or the TSP224r, just wondering but with a head/cam swap is it possible for me to break into the 13s? right now i was dead even with my buddies 14.7 b16 hatch...and if my head/cam combo doesnt seem right please give me some good advice, also if i do a tr220 with those heads does anyone know what length pushrod to use?? im planning on doing this on a weekend or preferably spring break since i cant be out of a truck due to work

With prc 2.5 heads n a 220 cam 3000 stall n 373's r 4.11's will def get you well into the 13's but a 6.0 swap with heads n cam stall n gears could get you in 12's

No offense but your truck ran dead even with something running a 14.7 with a 4.8L with headers exhaust tune and a cai on 33" a/t tires? I find that hard to figure. Anyway, if it was me I'd get rid of whatever lift you have on it now, buy a nice street set of wheels and tires and do a 6.0 swap. I think you'd notice a world of difference and be much happier with the end result. Especially over the 4.8.

6.0 swap, stock heads, 220ish cam, 3000 converter 3:73-3:90 depending what you want. id then look into a custom tune. if you can stand a bigger cam then do it but i recommend a smaller duration cam vs a huge cam.

graymatter04 runs 98-99mph in the 1/4 with a 5.3, 78mm intake, 212/218 low lift cam, Yank TT3000, 3:42s, LTs, CAI, tune an full weight

6.0 swap x 10.

Or FI on your 4.8. But doing a swap is going to be more cost effective and better in the long run.

Torque is your friend with big tires and lifted truck.

I'd find a nice LQ9 and youll be happy.

Add a cam headers and tune and youll be really happy.

Then blower or turbo and be REALLY happy LOL!!

thanks for the input guys i appreciate it, as for a motor swap...not gonna happen lol if i do itll be a 408, otherwise stayin with the 4.8, ive always done stuff diff from everyone else and kinda like to my own thing ya know? not tryin to disrespect any of yall im just sayin ive always been one to be diff, specially with my rides...as for my original plan i wanted a jacked truck, keep the 4.8 and keep stock internals n just do LTs ory and procharger...but now i think i want heads/cam, keep my bolt ons and do a procharger, as for the gear...if i do anything it prob wont be anything lower than a 456 lol, n to the member who doesnt believe me bout the hatch, its cool man you dont gotta believe it, im not bein disrespectful but i did stay dead even with him, at first i had him but thats just b.c of FWD vs rwd, everyone knows how that is from a dig lol...as for stall im undecided, b.c if i do decide to lift it, that thing will kill me on trails...not to mention ill prob poop out my trans even with an additional cooler, ive heard horror stories bout the L60E with convertors lol

I live about 30 minutes from Gurnee, on the Chain of Lakes, and i hope you've never seen my lifted truck and thought it was dog *** slow. My Radix would say otherwise. Then again, i'm not from the midwest. I just moved to the area a few months ago from San Diego. I built up the engine and did the lift around the same timeframe.
