So i have noticed taht i can bake my tires from a dead stop! i have the 310hp 5.3 and i figured id be able to toast my tires from adead stop but only when i go around corners i can. hopefully my corsa will help out with that. but is there a reason why or do i not ahve enough power?

Reason being you can smoke your tires in corners is that one side of the vehicle has all of the weight, and the other side is very light, allowing less weight on the tire, meaning less traction and that tire will spin very easily because it doesn't have much contact with the ground.

I assume by your name you have a Z71. It should have 3.73 geared rear locking diff.
Your power doesn't come on strong at low rpm's. These engines make their power in the mid and upper rpm's. Of course you could change your power band by swapping to a cam that creates loads of bottom end torque, though you will be sacrificing your upper rpm power band a little.
It's really all up to you with what you will mainly use your truck for.
If you want more bottom end without sacrificing your other rpm ranges, go with either a supercharger, turbo, or bigger cam and better flowing heads.
If your on a budget, go with a cold air kit, exhaust, and a custom tune.
You will have a grin on your face after a Nelson custom tune.
I just recieved my tune last night, and it's just unbelievable. It will put a hand held programmer to shame.
If you have any more Q's we're all here to help.

The 310HP is only availible with a 4:10 or 3.42 ratio. If you are doing 1 wheel peels around corners ,i gather you do not have a G80,it wont take long to beat the spider gears out of it doing 1 wheel peel corner turns. All you need to wake that up is a custom tune and a stall converter.

there is no standard gear for the Z71 models. back when you could get the 3.73 gear you only got that if you were being cheap and didn't want the 4.10's. as stated the gear choices for 05' are 3.42 standard and 4.10 optional.
the main reason you can't spin your tires is in the programming. doing nothing more than having your truck tuned should at least get you spinning.

Thanks everyone, I have 3.42's and I dont think I have the G80. There is a guy on here with a red scsb 4.8 that has DEZRACING.com, they're a dyno place that does a tune with ls1 edit, will taht work if i took it down there and had it done? if not ill buy an intake then save up for a nelsontune, but thanks again for diagnosing my issue!

-im like a 1/2 hr from there in northern RI. i wonder how much it would cost for a dyno tune. i'll consider it more serious after i get my corsa on and maybe buy a k&n intake.
