tell me what you think

i plan on keeping the stock muffler so my kids and wife will not lose any hearing. i'm going to use the exhaust tips from my old firebird. i would like to be able to have the sound i want when i want it and not have to worry about the good buys in blue. so i figure using an electric cut-out would be the best thing, except i'm going to run a pipe from the cut-out back into the exhaust behind the muffler. it want be as loud as a straight cut-out, but will be louder than the stock muffler. i've talked to a local muffler shop and they are asking 250 to 300 to do it. that's just labor and pipe. it will be a lot of pipe bending to make the y's for the tips so that was about the amount i was expecting to hear. being i have i tahoe, and not the surburban, putting the tips in the back around the spare tire is going to be a tight squeez. let me know if you have done this already or have heard of someone doing it. i can't wait to hear what it sounds like. i attached some photos, hopefully you can see them. thanks

Sounds like an interesting setup, I never would have though of doing that. Definitely get some pics before they take it off of the lift.
I have heard people talk about all kinds of mufflers that are no louder than stock at cruising speed, but give you a better sound when you get on it, so you might be able to get the same resuts with less $. I have heard of some people that start with a long Magnaflow, and then add the small bullet type mufflers in line to mellow it out even more. Although from a curiosity standpoint, I'd rather see you do your idea.
